Is it possible to get a copy to review? I have a new blog Celebrating Asian American Diversity and I think this would be perfect for that.

    Thank you!

  2. Ashlee says:

I first heard about this book while reading an issue of Glamour or Marie Claire magazine, not quite sure which one and it doesn’t really matter, and I immediately knew it was going to be on my summer must-read list! Hence, I raced to the local Barnes and Noble stores (3 because the first 2 did not have the book yet!) and bought what would soon be my favorite book!
Being in an interracial relationship myself, I have been longing for something like this and Diane, you have nailed it! I could not put the book down (is that every author’s goal?) and instantly felt connected to your and every other couple’s stories. The way you have written this just amazes me, every detail about every hardship all while trying to just live out your love with Seung.
I only hope for another book with the same topic, possibly like mentioned in the book: having biracial children and what is life going to be like living that experience!
Diane you are truly an amazing writer and very talented, I look forward to another book as well as a Kissing Outside the Lines movie?????

  3. Diane Farr says:

well hello to my new friend Shelly. Thank you. Really, thank you and PLEASE FEEL FREE to add this comment on to and This made my day. and ps, I fear i’m becoming a little add’ish (sorry to use this as an adjective to anyone who suffers from it) FROM MY BLACKBERRY. Too much info is making me feel skittish.

  4. Shelly says:

I COULD NOT put this book down!! That says a lot, especially coming from someone who thinks she may suffer from ADD. The book is oh so refreshing, brutally honest, introspective and HILARIOUSLY FUNNY. I came away from this book with a better understanding of challenges faced by interracial couples in our society. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has or has ever thought of “kissing outside the lines”.

  5. Diane Farr says:

ahhh. thank you Suze – i must have made a mistake then. we can only hope i can save the paperback. thank you

  7. Diane Farr says:

Wow! how fun that you not only found someone the same mix as you, but together you created more people the same mix as you. Enjoy

  8. Tanya says:

I’m really excited about reading your book–both my boyfriend and I are half Korean half white and like the good man that he is he bought me your book after reading about it in a magazine!

  9. Suze says:

I bought your book for my Kindle and I have been absorbed ever since! It’s wonderfully funny and moving. My husband has been saying, “what are you smiling at?” while I’m reading it!

My only wince was when you seemed to have muddled up Princess Michael of Kent, AKA The Pushy Princess, who no-one likes, with the Duchess of Kent, a very lovely woman who gives the trophies at Wimbledon. Two VERY different people and VERY different natures. That aside, I love your book and highly recommend it.

  10. Nicole says:

Yeah! Read the whole book without any interruption. Just a few hours to read it.

  11. Diane Farr says:

Nicole did you really read an entire book in one sitting?? that is amazing. I have never! (not even my own on a crazy deadline!) thanks so much for all the kind words

  12. EIRIC™ says:

Excited to pick up your book. Very much looking forward to sharing it with our audience.

  13. Radka says:

When I came home from school today, I saw a mail on my table. It was from Diane and when I opened this mail a saw your book. It was the most beautiful moment of my day! The book is amazing! Beautiful colors, … and I must start to read. You are amazing writer and when I saw photos in book – I envied. You have a beautiful family and you must be happy. Your marriage must be fantastic because you have a beautiful dress and you are very happy. Thank you very much and thanks for your dedication. It is kind!
Thank you again and the best. Your great fan. :)

  14. Nicole says:

Just finished reading the book. I really enjoyed it. I laughed, I cried, I learned so much from this book. Thank you, Diane, for writing this amazing book.

  15. Nicole says:

The UPS man delivered me your book. Finally! I will read your book this evening. :) I’m happy!

  17. Nicole says:

I just ordered the book off of Amazon. I have to wait next week to get my hands on that book. I’m a patient person.

  18. Diane Farr says:

wow thanks friends! I think i’m more afraid of putting a book out there and no one reading it, than I am to write one… let’s spread that word!

  19. Nicole says:

I will get the book next week and read it.

  20. Eden Werring says:

My brother just sent me the announcement of the book and trailer, Diane. Congrats! This looks great and I can’t wait to read it and will spread the word as well! Hope to see you one of these lifetimes. xoxoxo Eden

  21. Jill says:

Just pre-ordered via Kindle, can’t wait to read it. Love your work!

  22. Steve says:

Shame on you Melissa !!! I hope you are suitably chastised by Diane now !

  23. Diane Farr says:

I would like you all to know that Melissa is my dear childhood friend, who wrote all these lovely things – and then just added – onto my blog!!! – that she is married. I’m going to call her now and yell at her.

  24. Diane Farr says:

The Cashmere Agency did my trailer! I wrote and directed but they shot it, edited it, did the graphics, laid the track, co-ordinated with They are freakin awesome!

  25. Dennis Spear says:

Great video promo for your book. Looking forward to seeing it at the Library. Nice cover design and also good editing on the 00:03:14 promo. Who produced and edited for you? In any case, nice package for it all on a subject that is important. Thanks

…and the Community Bookstore in Park Slope, Book Court in Cobble Hill/Carrol Gardens, a new indy book store in the uber-hip Fort Green (even more multi-racial than Park Slope, if such a thing is even possible)… oh, god get ready for NYC signings my dear! I posted on FB an hour ago and already have several multi-ethnic-family friends asking me more about it.

(Oh, FYI – Monte and I got married! Crazy I’m posting this on your website. Typical me!)

  27. melissa says:

Genius, brilliant, amazing, incredible!!! I have already posted the trailer everywhere possible. Get your agent/PR rep to be SURE this book is on the FRONT table at the Barnes and Nobles in Cobble Hill (Court Street, Bklyn) and Park Slope. If they can’t, let me know and I’ll move the books MYSELF from the shelf to the front window. It is a pre-requisite around here to be overly educated, employed in academia, the media, or the arts, and have a multi-ethnic family. I am beside myself with happiness for you – this looks AMAZING!!!!!! Yxxxxxxooooo, melissa

  28. Nicole says:

I know! Those were his exact words.

  29. Diane Farr says:

I just laughed out loud about the foreign comment Nicole. Hilarious

  30. Diane Farr says:

thanks everybody for your thoughts pre-release! it’s only a few days away now…

  31. Nicole says:

My dad doesn’t care who I end up with. It’s just that my dad wants me to marry a guy that is caring, strong and loyal. Years ago, my mom wanted me to date/marry a good black man. Sorry, Mom, I decide who I will date/marry.

  32. Nicole says:

The guy that I have been friendly with told me that when he was a kid, he always wanted to have a foreign girlfriend. Well, sweetheart, you have one in me. :)

  33. Brooke says:

What a joy this book will be to read! I think that any person will be able to relate to this story of love and what it means us individually. We need more books like it!

And look at those legs! Way to get a second look at the bookstores!

  34. Steve says:

The excerpts are certainly thought provoking. Look forward to the release date

  35. Nicole says:

Just finished watching the trailer. That was so sweet. Your kids are adorable and you and your husband are gorgeous together. AWWW! :D

  36. Diane Farr says:

Dan Mackey, thanks for all your comments and support and your wit and wisdom. And for sharing your family and musical stories. df

  37. Diane Farr says:

I’m not that smart to know how to translate the title into Czech. But since it hasn’t come out in English yet, i’m guessing it may be a bit before I can hope to see it in Czech. But i’m counting on you to let me know when Radka!

  38. Diane Farr says:

That is not me on the cover of the book. my own mother asked me today “how I took that naked picture?” not me momma!

  39. Nicole says:

The excerpts so far have been great. Both of our parents are no longer together (my parents are separated, but still legally married; his are divorced, both his mom and dad are now married to other people). We haven’t done “Meet the Parents” yet, but I might be a bit nervous of meeting his family. Maymin (he wants me to call him that, but real name is Seung as well) would love to meet mine, but I hope it would go well.

  40. Dan Mackey says:

Yeah it’s me again, Usually I’m adding some inane attempt at humor on your facebook or twitter. After reading the excerpt I am once again impressed by your insights and your talent in expressing them in your writing which is a wonderful combination of humor and thoughtfulness. Marriage is a new thing for me at my age and I have inherited 5 step kids. The interracial question has come up here from my wife and also one of my step-daughters. My answer has been that I have no issue with it myself but the bigger question to face is the implications of how the family culture and society will feel and react. It sounds like you have created a very important resource in understanding and navigating life’s journey in this regard. Thanks for all you have lived and done to get this out there.

  41. Radka says:

I searched your book on the Internet but I not found it. Only in English. What is name in Czech? Thank you very much.

  42. Nicole says:

Is that you on the cover of the book?

  43. Nicole says:

I live in Norfolk, VA! I would love to go to Washington, DC!

  44. Diane Farr says:

There is a little short film… a book trailer… coming out on the book in a few days. Stay tuned my friends.

  45. Diane Farr says:

I have been shying away from doing signings, but I’m sure you have enough love to fill up your own bookstore Nicole. What city would be easy for you??

  46. Diane Farr says:

My last book was translated into Czech Radka! Don’t say it yet. A girl can dream now…

  47. Nicole says:

Diane, will you do any book signings?

  48. Radka says:

Nice! Beautiful packaging. It is a pity that book will not be in the Czech Republic.
Have a lot of copies sold.

  49. Nicole says:

Nice excerpt. We’re about a month away from the release of your book. And I just love the cover of the book.

  50. Nicole says:

The book will be out on May 10. Can’t wait.
